Dear Gentle Being, 3 DEC 2001

Welcome to the latest update, for events occurring at the SF Discussion Group.

On 12 January we met with Paul Abell who provided info on the hazards of Asteroids. It was a delightful, tho somewhat scary, evening.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, 13 February 2002. The meeting begins at 7:00 PM and ends, officially, at 9:00 PM at the FLIGHTS OF FANTASY BOOKSTORE at 488 Albany-Shaker Road in Loudonville - next to the Rite Aid.

Since we are still talking a little bit about The Fellowship of the Ring, I'm going to try & remember to bring some ancient stuff I have concerning the books and the like.

PAUL ABELL has provided the URL's he mentioned in his talk.

> NEAR Mission (Great images and some good info on NEAs. I was on the NIS/MSI team.) http://near.jhuapl.edu/
> The NEO page of the Minor Planet Center (A bit technical, but has good links.)

> The Near-Earth Object Program of JPL (Useful and easy to understand.)

> The Near-Earth Asteroids Database of DLR (Germany) (Very technical, but may be of interest to some if they want to see what is known about specific NEAs.)

PS: When the Information Superhighway slows to a crawl or stops, you are experiencing "BYTELOCK!" I coined BYTELOCK on 17 July 1997. Please use BYTELOCK but DO cite the source. I would like to get into the dictionary.
