Welcome to the latest update, for events occurring at the SF Discussion Group.
On Wednesday, 12 June 2002 we met over at FoF to nosh with Wen Spencer and later hear her read from her new book & talk about what she is working on next.
The next meeting will be ***** Date Change ALERT!!!***** TUESDAY, 9 July 2002. The meeting begins at 7:00 PM and ends, officially, at 9:00 PM at the FLIGHTS OF FANTASY BOOKSTORE at 488 Albany-Shaker Road in Loudonville - next to the Rite Aid. Rob Sawyer will be joining us to do a signing & reading. Maybe we can get him to tell us all about his job in South Africa! We will be meeting at FoF at 4:53 PM so we can dodge traffic going across the street to the restaurant for dinner at 5 PM. Y'all are welcome to join us.

John Clute one of the most distinguished critics of fantasy and Science Fiction will be our guest at Flights of Fantasy on THURSDAY, 11 July at 7:30 PM. John is the co-editor of the Encyclopedia of Science Fiction and the Encyclopedia of Fantasy. Join us for dinner at a nearby restaurant. We will leave Flights at 5:30 PM. [I'm going to get fat(ter) eating out so much.
The following SFDG meeting will be on Wednesday, 14 August. Dawn River Baker will be reading from her novel, The Rise of the Phoenix. This is her first novel. We will be meeting at FoF at 4:53 PM so we can dodge traffic going across the street to the Lainie's restaurant for dinner at 5 PM. Y'all are welcome to join us.
The September SFDG meeting will be on Wednesday, 11 September. Josepha Sherman will make the trek north to Albany for a reading & signing.
There will be no meeting in October. We'll have ALL been to ALBACON the previous weekend. However, on Wednesday, 13 November 2002 we'll be back.
ALBACON meetings will be scheduled for the first Sunday of every month and begin at 2 PM Location: Flights of Fantasy on 488 Albany-Shaker Road, Albany, 12211 NY. The next ones will be Sunday, 14 July, 4 August, & 8 September 2002. Everyone invited, tho they may end up putting you to work.

PS: Are you something of a Tolkien fan? The Fellowship will gather on Sunday, 22 September 2002. What a fine day for a birthday party. Care to read with us? If there are enough interested persons, we need at least 6 persons, we could spend a couple hours on Sunday afternoons, say from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM or so, reading tLotR aloud.
