CALL FOR PAPERS SFRA 2001, The 32nd Science Fiction Research Association Conference SF In The Next Millennium: Looking Forward While Remembering The Past 24 to 27 May 2001 (Memorial Day Weekend) The Schenectady Ramada Inn & Convention Center Schenectady, NY, USA Literary Guests of Honor: CJ Cherryh, David Weber and Jane Yolen Artist Guest of Honor: Vincent Di Fate The Science Fiction Research Association [SFRA] solicits papers, paper proposals, and panel proposals from scholars interested in any aspect of Science Fiction. In particular, the 2001 Conference will focus on the prospects for science fiction in the coming millennium, its historical roots and its connections to other genres. Topics may include (but are not limited to): Tolkien, storytelling - differences for the young & the old, media -influence & quality, literary criticism - including how different critical theories may be applied to the same work, teaching SF in the classroom, cross-genre, SF's connection to, and relevance for interdisciplinary studies, any author, [in particular our Guests of Honor], globalization, Americanization and the future of International SF, the writers, magazines, individuals and groups who developed SF. Paper Proposal: Please send a 250 word abstract (Maximum 20 minute reading time for the finished paper.) including the presentation title, your name, mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address. The receipt of proposal will be confirmed by e-mail. Panel Proposal: Please send the panel name and a 250 word abstract. Please include the panel title, the panel chair (who may be one of the presenters), mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address of each presenter. The receipt of proposal will be confirmed by e-mail.
